We Are UD

Founded in 1850, the University of Dayton is a top 10 national Catholic university, according to U.S. News & World Report. The friendly, welcoming atmosphere at UD stems from our Catholic, Marianist roots and our commitment to community.

With more than 6,800 undergraduates, UD is Ohio's largest private university. There are over 70 high-quality academic programs in four accredited divisions and an interactive learning community. Classes are small, with an average class size of 27 and a student-to-faculty ratio of 16 to 1.

Our 800 faculty members are dedicated to teaching undergraduates and involving them in research. What students learn in the classroom is connected to the world beyond campus, and what they learn outside the classroom is tied to academics. Participating in service-learning projects, international opportunities, internships and cooperative education allows your child to make connections between theory and practice, as well as prepare for the real world.

A University of Dayton education builds competence and character. It challenges students to think and enables them to see the world — and their role in it — in a new light. The Templeton Foundation chose the University of Dayton as one of 100 colleges and universities in the United States that encourages character development and prepares students for lives of personal and civic responsibility.

Whatever your child's interests and talents, he or she will find a way to pursue them at UD. With more than 180 clubs and organizations, Division I athletics, musical and theatrical performances, service clubs and Greek organizations, there are plenty of opportunities to gather with friends and get involved.
