First-Year Scholarships

Scholarships are awarded on the basis of academic achievement, leadership qualities or specific talents.

Academic Scholarship Program

You worked hard. You studied hard. And the University of Dayton offers generous scholarships to reward you for a job well done. The academic scholarship program at UD offers as much as $100,000 over four years. These awards are made to entering first-year students only.

As an entering first-year student, you will be automatically considered for an academic scholarship when you apply to UD. The most important factors considered are GPA and ACT or SAT scores. These scholarships are renewable for four years, provided you maintain good grades and are a responsible member of the UD community. View our scholarship chart to see how your high school grades can make our world-class education even more affordable.

These scholarship ranges are to be used for informational purposes only and are based upon actual awards that accepted students received last year. Final scholarship awards will be based on the applicant's academic record, as well as the quality and strength of the current applicant pool.

In 2007, more than 99 percent of incoming first-year students received some form of institutional aid (scholarships and grants). Last year, we provided nearly $44 million in institutional aid to our students. Additional need-based aid is also available.

Scholarship Procedure

To apply for an academic scholarship, simply apply to UD, submit your official ACT or SAT scores, and ask your counselor to complete the recommendation and submit it with your official transcript. While we prefer early submission, the application priority date is December 15, so you should arrange to take the ACT or SAT no later than December of your senior year.

You must be accepted to the University before an official award may be offered, and you will be notified of your scholarship status by March 15.
